At LingoDodo®, we believe in the magic of language as a bridge to our cultural heritageand a key to global citizenship.
Founded by Alex and Milan Rana, LingoDodo was born from a simple yet profound realization. In 2016, while working at Boeing®, we saw our two-year-old playing with English language toys and wondered: why not create toys that teach the languages we speak at home?
We are part of a diverse tapestry of families across the US and Canada, where millions speak a language other than English at home. We felt a need to create something for these families, to help them pass their languages and cultural heritage on to the next generation.
With a shared passion for languages and cultural preservation, and the help of a dedicated team of linguists and language experts, we embarked on a journey to develop engaging, screen-free language learning tools. Our products, meticulously designed and tested over multiple iterations, now include language learning pads available in seven Indian languages, with plans to expand to even more. Additionally, we offer plush elephants that move their ears, play peek-a-boo, and sing nursery rhymes, available in select languages.
Our Mission
We aim to empower multicultural families to pass down their languages and heritage to the next generation. Our screen-free learning pads and interactive plush elephants help children learn languages interactively and playfully, fostering a love for their cultural roots while avoiding the downsides of excessive screen time.

Our Story
What kind of name is LingoDodo®?
Lingo means language and Dodo refers to the extinct bird from Mauritius. The Dodo's extinction is partly attributed to its loss of flight, as it didn't use its wings and couldn't protect itself. We thought "Use it or lose it." Just like the Dodo lost its wings, if we don't use our languages, they risk becoming extinct within our families. Hence Lingo plus Dodo equals LingoDodo®. Simple! :)
Who are we?
We are parents living in the U.S., raising bilingual kids. We understand the struggle of passing down our language and values. That's why we created these toys to help families connect, making it easier for kids to bond with their grandparents and learn their native languages. Our mission is to support families in preserving their heritage.
Why did we create these language-learning toys?
We originally planned to design language software but quickly realized that kids benefit more from hands-on, interactive play. As parents, we believe in lifelong learning and know that being bilingual helps children feel more connected to their heritage, culture, and family. We also wanted to avoid adding more screen time to our kids’ lives, so we focused on creating engaging, no-screen toys that make learning fun and meaningful.
