Our Story
Like many families across the US and Canada, we (Alex and Milan Rana) speak a language other than English at home. In 2016, while working at Boeing®, we watched our two-year-old playing with English-only toys and had a profound realization: why weren't there engaging toys to teach the languages we spoke?
This simple question sparked the beginning of LingoDodo®. We knew countless families shared our challenge: a deep desire to connect their children to their cultural identity and native language, but often struggled to find fun, effective ways to do it.
Driven by a shared passion for languages and cultural preservation, we assembled a dedicated team of linguists and learning experts. Our mission was clear: to create playful, screen-free tools that make learning home languages joyful and natural for every child.
After meticulous design and multiple iterations, our innovative language learning pads were born. These Pads offer foundational skills in alphabets, numbers, colors, and essential words, and are currently available in a growing array of home languages. We're rapidly expanding our offerings, committed to embracing even more cultures and communities around the globe.
To further enhance playful engagement, we also developed interactive Plush elephants. These delightful companions move their ears, play peek-a-boo, and sing nursery rhymes, truly bringing language to life through touch and sound.

What kind of name is LingoDodo®?
“Lingo” stands for language, and “Dodo” refers to the extinct bird from Mauritius. The Dodo lost its ability to fly because it stopped using its wings, and that inspired us. If we don’t use our languages, they risk disappearing too, especially within our families. So we created LingoDodo® as a fun reminder: use it or lose it!

Who are we?
We're parents in the U.S. raising bilingual kids, just like you. We know how hard it can be to pass down language and culture, so we created these toys to help. They make it easier for kids to connect with their grandparents and learn their native language. Our mission is simple: help families preserve their heritage through joyful, everyday moments.
Why did we create these language-learning toys?
We first considered building language software but quickly realized that kids learn best through hands-on, interactive play. As parents, we value lifelong learning and know that being bilingual helps children feel closer to their heritage, culture, and family. We also wanted to reduce screen time, so we focused on creating fun, screen-free toys that make language learning both meaningful and engaging.
